Hearts in Darkness

“I love...that elevator,” she said.

Blurb

Two strangers…

Makenna James thinks her day can't get any worse, until she finds herself stranded in a pitch-black elevator with a complete stranger. Distracted by a phone call, the pin-striped accountant catches only a glimpse of a dragon tattoo on his hand before the lights go out.

Four hours…

Caden Grayson is amused when a harried redhead dashes into his elevator fumbling her bags and cell phone. His amusement turns to panic when the power fails. Despite his piercings, tats, and vicious scar, he's terrified of the dark and confined spaces. Now, he's trapped in his own worst nightmare.

One pitch-black elevator…

To fight fear, they must reach out and open up. With no preconceived notions based on looks to hold them back, they discover just how much they have in common. In the warming darkness, attraction grows and sparks fly, but will they feel the same when the lights come back on?

Review

This book is only 98 pages long, so at the speed I read, it was devoured in approx 1 hour total.

I am REALLY impressed at what Laura Kaye managed to achieve in such a short novel!

Makenna is in a rush, she has a million things to do and on her way into the lift, she drops her mobile. As she is picking it up, she spots a tattooed arm reaching out to help her.

Cayden sees a gorgeous, stressed out red-head stumbling towards him in the lift. He assists her in picking up the phone she has dropped.

Then...

Nothing.
The lights go out.
The lift shudders and all comes to a halt.

Cayden and Makenna are stuck like this for 4 hours. 4 Looooooong hours.

After a while, they start to chat and have an instant connection. Without the power of sight, they rely on other senses.

Oh the other senses!! The touching, the smelling, the sounds - it all makes for a sensual book.

I loved this novella, the only complaint I had was, and I know its nothing, but I HATED Makenna's name. I didn't think it suited her.

Other than that - this is a MUST READ!
